The law protects – we ensure
Victim of crime
If you have been a victim of a crime, report the matter to the police. If the crime has caused injuries, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. In serious cases, we will assist you during the police investigation. The perpetrator is obliged to compensate for the damage he or she has caused. The damage and whether the victim is claiming compensation from the perpetrator must be reported during the preliminary investigation or at the latest to the court. We will prepare compensation claims on your behalf in connection with the trial. We also act as guardians of minors in criminal proceedings.
Suspected of a crime
It is important for a criminal suspect to understand their obligations and rights during police interrogations. For example, you have the right not to cooperate with the investigation. It is important to understand the legal content of the crime being investigated, because words in law often have different meanings than in ordinary conversation. It is worth preparing for interrogations so that your own view of the events is clear in advance, because changing your own view afterwards is rarely successful. The best way to prepare for police interrogations is to contact a lawyer, with whom you can discuss confidentially and prepare your own defense. We will go through the different options with you and weigh their effects and consequences. If the case does not end at the preliminary investigation stage, the prosecutor will conduct a criminal investigation. If the prosecutor files a summons application (indictment) with the court, a trial will be held in the case. The legal protection of the defendant in a criminal case often requires the use of a lawyer in the trial. We will assist you in the trial and prepare the defense together. The defense starts on behalf of the client and we provide you with an honest assessment of the situation based on long experience. It is often possible to appeal the court's decision. We are by your side until the end.
Costs
Preliminary telephone conferences and emails before the actual assignment is created do not incur any costs for the client.
The hourly rate depends on the quality and scope of the assignment. Usually the hourly rate is €200–280 + VAT. I will clarify the terms and conditions of the assignment and the billing criteria during the initial assessment.
Home insurance policies often include legal expenses insurance, which, according to the insurance terms and conditions, broadly covers legal proceedings for people other than those suspected of a crime.
The state offers completely free or deductible legal aid, where you can use a private lawyer. The legal aid offered by the state depends on the nature of the case and your own financial situation. I will find out if you are entitled to free legal aid.
